Doctors

  • Dr. John A. Boley , DVM

John Boley, DVM graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine with his Doctorate in 1995. After graduation, Dr. Boley practiced in a nine doctor hospital in the Chicago area for two years and in the Kansas City area for five years. In 2002, he moved to Colorado Springs and purchased Columbine Animal Clinic. In October 2007, Dr. Boley changed the name of Columbine Animal Clinic to Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs. This name change coincided with the move in to the newly remodeled, state of the art veterinary hospital that is now their permanent home.

Dr. Boley is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and the Colorado Springs Area Veterinary Society. Dr. Boley served as a board member with the Colorado Springs Area Veterinary Society for three years, one year as vice-president and two years as president. He has attended a wide variety of continuing education courses and seminars that have helped advance his expertise and knowledge base in a multitude of areas. Dr. Boley has a special interest in orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and preventative medicine. He has also received his credentials to use Vet Stem cells to treat certain medical conditions. He is also a strong advocate of the importance of preventative health care and annual professional dental cleanings. Dr. Boley’s focus is on the human-animal bond and on “doing the common things uncommonly well.”

In the course of Dr. Boley’s career, he has had many memorable experiences. One of the most recent, memorable experiences was performing an emergency caesarian on a patient to deliver puppies. The remarkable part of it was, that his wife had her own caesarian section scheduled to deliver their third child, less than twelve hours away. Here he was delivering puppies, doing surgery and answering his wife’s questions all at the same time. His wife also helped him with taking care of the newborn puppies while he finished the surgery.

Dr. Boley was born and raised in Kansas. He credits his strong work ethic, his honesty and perseverance to the two men that influenced him the most: his father and his grandfather. His love of animals and a conversation with his grandfather inspired him to choose a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Boley and his wife Karen are the proud parents of three sons: Jake, Jesse and Wyatt. They have two pets, Tom, a domestic shorthair cat, and Sydney, an Australian Grassland parakeet. In Dr. Boley’s free time, he enjoys fly-fishing, golfing, hiking, telling a good story and watching classic westerns and John Wayne movies with his sons.

  • Dr. Noelle Mitchell , DVM

Noelle Mitchell, DVM graduated from Colorado State university with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.  She practiced in Seoul, Korea for two years and has practiced in Colorado for eight years.  She has been on staff with the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs (formally Columbine Animal Clinic, PC.) since 2003.  Dr. Mitchell is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and the Colorado Springs Area Veterinary Society. She was a board member of the Colorado Springs Area Veterinary Society for three years. She keeps current by attending multiple continuing education seminars every year. She has also received extensive continuing education on performing laser surgery and in veterinary dentistry. Dr. Mitchell has also received her credentials to use Vet Stem© cells to treat certain medical conditions.

Dr. Mitchell has had many memorable moments in her veterinary career. One particularly good memory involves a client that had a beloved geriatric cat that had been ill and the client was certain that the time had come for her dear pet to be euthanized. After her evaluation of the cat, Dr. Mitchell determined that the cat was healthy other than having severe periodontal disease. Following a professional dental cleaning and the necessary extractions, the cat did exceedingly well and was soon her old self, living many more years as a wonderful companion to her owner.

Dr. Mitchell has a son named Nicholas and two cats named Mallory and Anaken. She is an avid runner. In 2007, she ran the Boulder Backroads Half Marathon and in 2008 she completed the San Francisco Marathon. She also enjoys golfing for recreation in her free time.

Office Manager

  • Eva

Eva has worked for the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs since August 2003. The thing she likes most about her job is meeting the clients and their pets. Her fondest hospital memories were of times spent with the clinic cat, Noel, our previous “public relations specialist.” Noel loved to lay in laps and on paperwork. Eva felt no day was complete without some loving time with Noel. Noel, who passed away in 2007, was loved by everyone and is still greatly missed. Eva and her husband Fred live in Colorado Springs with their three cats, Oreo, Reeses and Chex. Eva enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and playing computer games.

Receptionists

  • Nancy

Nancy worked at the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs back in 2005-2006.  She missed everyone so much she rejoined the team in February 2008.  Her favorite part of working at the hospital is being part of such a great team.  Getting to know the clients and their pets is the FUN part of her job.  She also loves all the puppies and kitties.  Her favorite memory at the hospital was the day she found an old Golden Retriever in the parking lot and seeing how happy and grateful the owner was at getting the old friend back.  She has two cats Jazzy and Creamer and two dogs Fergi and Peanut.  Her hobbies include gardening, music and beading.

Technicians

  • Michelle , Veterinary Assistant

Michelle has worked for the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs since February 2005. Michelle’s favorite part of her job is helping sick pets feel better. Michelle’s most memorable hospital experience was when a dog came in to the hospital with really bad teeth. The dog was in so much pain that he would barely let anyone touch him. His teeth were so decayed and infected that they all had to be extracted. Since the dental, the dog is completely different. He’s a very happy, friendly dog. The dog definitely feels much better. Michelle and her husband Mark live in Colorado Springs with their three dogs: Cali an Aussi, Blaze a Husky, and Sierra a Malinois and their domestic shorthair cat named Reba. Michelle enjoys hiking and spending time with her husband in her free time.

  • Kaz , Certified Veterinary Technician

Kazimera (Kaz) joined the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs in July 2007, after she graduated from Bel-Rea with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Kaz enjoys meeting all the dogs and cats that come in to the hospital. Kaz’s most memorable experience occurred when an Italian Greyhound named Duce came in to the hospital after it had been attacked by the owners other dog. Dr. Boley, Jessica and Kaz cared for Duce and his wounds. Later that evening, Kaz told her boyfriend about the Italian Greyhound named Duce. She then realized that Duce belonged to her boyfriend’s friend. She felt it was a nice surprise to be able to help a dog of someone she knew without knowing it at the time. Kaz lives in Colorado Springs with her two cats, Carmel, a domestic shorthair and Stainier, a Ragdoll. In Kaz’s free time she enjoys playing pool, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

  • Peggy , Veterinary Assistant

Peggy has worked for the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs since September 2007.  Peggy's favorite part of her job is meeting clients and their pets; as well as, working with other staff members.  Peggy and her daughter Brittany live in Colorado Springs with their four pets.  They have two Australian Shepherd dogs named Aussie and Shep.  They also have two cats, a Himalayan named Blue and a domestic longhair named Muska.  Peggy enjoys watching her daughter's sporting events, family time, reading, walking and pet sitting.

Public Relations

  • Graycee , Hospital Mascot

Graycee became a member of the Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs in September 2007 when she became one of the first patients to be seen in the new hospital facility. Her mother, a neighborhood cat, gave birth to three kittens in the unfinished ceiling during the remodeling stage of our new facility. Thanks to the caring hospital staff, the three kittens were bottle-fed from their second day of life, after they were retrieved from their ceiling hideaway.  Graycee has now grown into a healthy and happy young cat, that loves to greet one and all, to our hospital.
